Faq about Bottles and Containers

Are NALGENE Brand Products dishwasher safe?
Most can be washed in the dishwasher away from the heating element. To prevent loose closures and small bottles from washing off the rack and into contact with the heating element, be sure to anchor them or place them in a washing basket.

The white bottles give off a slight "plastic" odor. What is it?
NALGENE bottles and containers are made of pure plastic with no fillers or extenders added, so the "plastic" smell is simply the natural odor of the material. It is not harmful.

How can I remove stains and odors from my NALGENE Bottles?
We have found that by doing one or all of the following works to remove stains and odors:

1. Soak in warm soapy water.
2. Soak in warm water with lemon.
3. Soak in baking soda and warm water.
4. After soaking putting the bottle in the dishwasher away from the heating element.

For some of the stubborn stains soak them in a solution of 1-tablespoon liquid bleach per cup of water. For some of the stubborn odors wrap a charcoal briquette up in a newspaper and put it in the bottle with the cap on and let it sit for a few days.

How do I freeze my bottles and CANTENES®?
To freeze the contents in our bottles please be sure to leave room for expansion; for best results fill to about ľ full. For best results when freezing the contents in any of our CANTENES® please adhere to the fill line.

Why do the caps on the NALGENE® bottles sometimes crack or break?
The closures on most NALGENE® bottles are made of PP, which provides the best leakproof seal but is more prone to breakage than HDPE or PC, especially at colder temperatures.

How do we remove the UPC sticker?
Remove as much of the sticker as possible. Some of the stickers can be removed with soap and warm water. Another suggestion is to rub baby oil on the area until it rubs off. Do not scrub the area because this will cause scratches on the surface of the bottle. In 2001 we changed the UPC sticker on the bottle so that it can be removed more easily for our customers.
